just gyn girlie things ✨ I’ve been relishing in the gyn life the past few weeks and can’t believe we’re already toward the end of week three 🥲 just wanted to put it out there that residency work hours have ups & downs, and being in a surgical specialty doesn’t mean we’re always working 80 hour work weeks 🤠 but on the other side of that, it’s hilarious to me that working a normal person 40 hour work week feels like vacation to me 😅 I was talking to one of my friends recently about how wild it is that residency tricks us into feeling like a normal full time job is vacation hours 😭 anyway, thankful for the lighter hours this block & definitely taking full advantage of the extra time!! 👌 #residencylife #obgynresident #obgynresidency #osteopathicmed #osteopathicphysician #osteopathicmedicine #medschoolmotivation

And you’re in the right spot!! ⬇️ Audition season is around the corner, and it’s time to start applying for audition rotations! If you’re a DO student, it’s important to find programs that are DO-friendly. I have three big tips that helped me narrow down a list of programs when I was a 3rd year! 1. Start by searching for programs that currently have Osteopathic Recognition (found on the AACOM website under Graduate Level Osteopathic Training) 2. Search for programs that previously had American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accreditation before the transition to ACGME. You can just google “original AOA residency programs” and there’s an entire PDF of programs broken down by specialty! While these programs may not have current osteopathic recognition, they do have osteopathic roots and most likely are still very DO-friendly! 3. Lastly, ask your school leadership for a comprehensive list of programs where alumni from your school have matched. Not only should you apply to those programs for audition rotations, but you should also reach out to the alumni if their contact info is available.
